Workshops & Trainings
For some, the concept of interactive theatre workshops can be intimidating. Many who participate in these workshops have limited theatre experience at best. These workshops are designed so that anyone with any level of experience can participate. Do not let fear or insecurity prevent you and/or your group from giving this medium a try! It is by stepping outside of our comfort zones that we are able to be stretched and grow. Vulnerability of this kind is integral to theatre’s powerful work.
What is the purpose of workshops?
Equip participants to recognize bias when it occurs and respond appropriately
Educate participants about microaggressions—what they are, the pain they cause, and how we are complicit in using them
Provide a space for groups to navigate difficult team dynamics and workplace situations
Explore specific conflicts relevant to your organization using mind and body instead of listening to yet another general motivational speaker
What are Trainings?
Trainings are for those individuals who want to lead Theatre of the Oppressed or Theatre for Healthcare Equity workshops in the future. This is more time consuming than a workshop, because it contains all the elements of workshops plus many hours of training as “Joker” or facilitator in the tradition of Augusto Boal and Paulo Freire
Trainings are most effective with individuals who have a background in facilitation, education or theatre.
